In 1937, Bing Crosby invited a group of friends to get together for some golf, a clambake and, most importantly, to raise money for local charities. Since that time, the tournament, now known as the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro‐Am, has become one of the most popular and internationally recognized stops on the PGA TOUR and the spirit of giving back has continued through Monterey Peninsula Foundation.
Over the past eight years, Monterey Peninsula Foundation has been proud to support local nonprofit organizations through Charity Match and Birdies for Charity, in conjunction with the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Due to the generosity of donors, we have been able to collectively raise millions for nonprofit organizations in our local community.
Each year, we review charitable giving to determine the most pertinent community needs and how we can make the greatest impact. After much consideration, we have decided to dissolve the Charity Match program and partner with other local giving programs to continue our support of the community and inspiring philanthropic giving. Our goal is to continue supporting those who have participated in Charity Match. We believe that we can achieve this by partnering with other local giving programs.
We are very pleased to announce new, exciting partnerships with local giving programs to continue inspiring philanthropy and supporting local nonprofits in our three-county geographic area:
