Chevron STEM Zone
Sponsored by Chevron, the STEM Zone incorporates Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics into various hands-on, golf-themed activities creating a fun learning environment for students. The Chevron STEM Zone features learning stations, where students of all ages can learn about the science within sports. These include broadcast technology, gravity, aerodynamics, Newton’s Cradle, the parabolic flight path of a football, reaction time and biofeedback, meteorology, as well as several other engaging and educational stations. Students will have the opportunity to sit in a broadcast studio, read from a teleprompter, stand in front of green screen and learn about the technology that is used to produce such broadcasts.
The Chevron STEM Zone operates at both the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and the PURE Insurance Championship, and the Monterey Peninsula Foundation offers grant funds to cover transportation costs to local schools in Monterey, Santa Cruz, and San Benito Counties, and to Northern California First Tee chapters. Space is limited.
Grant funding information is released in December for the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and in July for the PURE Insurance Championship.
