ABOUT US

Our Mission & History

Our mission is “to enhance the quality of life in Monterey County and surrounding areas through the strategic disbursement of charitable funds generated by hosting the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and the PURE Insurance Championship.”

With close to 80 years of expertise in managing world-class golf events and charitable giving, Monterey Peninsula Foundation leverages the game of golf into positive community change.

Our mission is two-fold: To host the most remarkable tournaments for players, spectators, sponsors, and volunteers, and to focus the philanthropy made possible by the tournaments to enhance the quality of life across Monterey, Santa Cruz, and San Benito Counties.

Through the creation of world-class golf experiences, Monterey Peninsula Foundation generates and distributes funds across a wide spectrum of initiatives which effectively address social needs and impact the community. Great golf. It’s just the beginning.

OUR HISTORY

AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am

One of the most exciting events on the PGA TOUR, the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am is contested annually in front of thousands of spectators and millions of television viewers. All tournament proceeds benefit the Monterey Bay region.

OUR HISTORY

PURE Insurance Championship

In 2004, Monterey Peninsula Foundation harnessed the idea of The First Tee Open at Pebble Beach to showcase The First Tee (now known as First Tee), an empowering youth development and golf program. Now known as the PURE Insurance Championship Impacting First Tee, the tournament pairs junior golfers from First Tee programs around the nation with PGA TOUR Champions and talented amateurs in a unique format designed to mentor and inspire a new generation in the sport. The proceeds from this tournament are reinvested into the community where they positively impact kids in First Tee programs and other youth-serving nonprofits.
